Lourdes opened up Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday afternoon, suffering a 6-1 setback to fourth-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio at Racer Stadium in Lima, Ohio.

The Racers opened the scoring just 1:58 into the match as Jeweleen Reuille scored from the left side to put the hosts in front. Reuille added a second goal with just over 20 minutes to play before halftime as Julie Cazanave drew the assist. Cazanave scored an unassisted goal herself 2:32 later to make it 3-0 Northwestern Ohio.

Chloe Shaffer (Rossford, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard with 6:28 remaining before halftime, scoring her second goal of the season.Â
Lauren Poslaiko (Woodhaven, Mich./Carlson H.S.) added the assist, the first of the season for the senior, on a goal that resulted from a restart. The goal marked the first ever for Lourdes against a NAIA top-25 opponent in their ninth match all-time against a ranked foe.

Brooke Goodrich scored on a header in the 58
th minute to add to the Racer lead in the second half while Cazanave added two goals in the final 30 minutes to complete her hat trick and seven-point effort for the day.

Northwestern Ohio (6-1, 1-0 WHAC) outshot Lourdes 25-7 for the afternoon, including 15-5 on goal, and the Racers had the only four corner kick opportunities of the match.Â
Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made nine saves in goal for the Gray Wolves while Lisa Venrath made four stops for the Racers.

Lourdes (4-3, 0-1) returns home on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Michigan-Dearborn at Wildcat Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon as the Gray Wolves hold their annual pediatric cancer match.
