Lourdes opened up Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday afternoon, suffering a 6-1 setback to fourth-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio at Racer Stadium in Lima, Ohio.
 
The Racers opened the scoring just 1:58 into the match as Jeweleen Reuille scored from the left side to put the hosts in front.  Reuille added a second goal with just over 20 minutes to play before halftime as Julie Cazanave drew the assist.  Cazanave scored an unassisted goal herself 2:32 later to make it 3-0 Northwestern Ohio.
 
Chloe Shaffer (Rossford, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard with 6:28 remaining before halftime, scoring her second goal of the season.  Lauren Poslaiko (Woodhaven, Mich./Carlson H.S.) added the assist, the first of the season for the senior, on a goal that resulted from a restart.  The goal marked the first ever for Lourdes against a NAIA top-25 opponent in their ninth match all-time against a ranked foe.
 
Brooke Goodrich scored on a header in the 58^th minute to add to the Racer lead in the second half while Cazanave added two goals in the final 30 minutes to complete her hat trick and seven-point effort for the day.
 
Northwestern Ohio (6-1, 1-0 WHAC) outshot Lourdes 25-7 for the afternoon, including 15-5 on goal, and the Racers had the only four corner kick opportunities of the match.  Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made nine saves in goal for the Gray Wolves while Lisa Venrath made four stops for the Racers.
 
Lourdes (4-3, 0-1) returns home on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Michigan-Dearborn at Wildcat Stadium.  Kickoff is set for noon as the Gray Wolves hold their annual pediatric cancer match.
