Lourdes closed out a 3-0 weekend in its Gray Wolf Invitational on Saturday afternoon with a 30-32, 25-21, 25-21, 25-23 victory over West Virginia Tech inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

"It was great to get three wins on the weekend," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "We played well enough to get the win while still figuring some things out on the court.  Our right side offense was really strong today."

The Gray Wolves put down 23 kills in the opening set, but still fell behind in the match after the Golden Bears picked up a 32-30 victory.  Lourdes fought off six set points in the stanza before West Virginia Tech capitalized.  Lourdes evened the match in the second, scoring the final four points to break open a 21-21 deadlock.

The third set was tied 20-20 before Lourdes went on a late run.  A pair of service aces from Megan Vayansky (Pickerington, Ohio/North H.S.) spared a 4-0 spurt that helped the Gray Wolves take the lead in the match.  Lourdes never trailed in the final set, racing out to an 8-2 lead.  West Virginia Tech (7-5) pulled to within two, 22-20, but the Gray Wolves fought off the comeback attempt.

Allie Hale (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) and Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) led the way with 17 and 16 kills respectively while Macey Zinser (Bucyrus, Ohio/Wynford H.S.) added 11 more while hitting .360 for the match.  Vayansky had a double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs while Annika Devendorf (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion H.S.) added 28 assists.

Defensively, Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) had a match-high 23 digs for the Gray Wolves while Angelica Dippold (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) added 14 more.  Hale added six blocks while Cammy Smith (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario H.S.) was in on five rejections.

Carolina Bologna led West Virginia Tech with 14 kills for a Golden Bears team that hit .283 for the match while Sawyer Hawgood had 22 digs.

Lourdes (3-4) will take to the road on Wednesday evening, Sept. 11, to open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play at Indiana Tech.  First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Schaefer Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.
