Lawrence Tech Spoils Senior Night for Gray Wolves

Lourdes celebrated Senior Night on Wednesday evening, but Lawrence Tech crashed the party, as the Blue Devils defeated the Gray Wolves 77-51 inside of the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

Prior to the final home contest of the season, Lourdes honored seniors Hunter Kershaw (Columbus, Ohio/Westland H.S.) and Riley Raburn (Horton, Mich./Lumen Christi H.S.).

"This was not the result that we wanted, but it was great to be able to celebrate the seniors who have contributed so much to our program," head coach John Kenger said afterwards.

An early 8-0 run by the Blue Devils allowed the visitors to take the lead for good in a game, 10-2.  Lourdes answered with seven straight to pull within one, but would never lead in the game.

A 16-0 spurt by Lawrence Tech over five minutes, spanning the quarter break, allowed the Blue Devils to build a 29-11 lead and took a 36-20 lead into the locker room.

The lead grew to as many as 24 in the third before the Blue Devils held a 20-point edge heading into the final 10 minutes.  Lourdes opened the fourth quarter with nine straight points to pull within 11, 57-46, with eight minutes to play, but back-to-back triples by Lawrence Tech allowed the guests to extend the lead on the way to securing the victory.

Mirandia Green (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer H.S.) led Lourdes with 12 points, five rebounds, and five assists while Kershaw added 11 points.  The Gray Wolves shot 36.4% from the floor, making just 3-of-11 (27.3%) from three-point range.

Danielle Hansen led Lawrence Tech (18-11, 12-7 WHAC) with 16 points and 14 rebounds while Kendall Fisher added 15 points and 12 assists.  The Blue Devils shot 42.0% from the floor and made 14-of-37 (37.8%) from three-point range.

Lourdes (10-19, 6-13) will close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves travel to Lima, Ohio to face the University of Northwestern Ohio.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside of Racer Gymnasium, with the winner earning the final berth in the upcoming Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.
