After dropping the opener to 22
nd-ranked Saint Xavier 8-0 in the opener, Lourdes came within one out of a no-hitter on Monday in a 4-1 victory over Carlow at Fortune Road Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla.
Jenna Harris (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West H.S.) went five innings against Carlow (0-2), striking out two and walking four without allowing a hit to earn her first collegiate victory (1-0). She allowed one unearned run.
Milena Applegate (Jerome, Mich./Lumen Christi H.S.) came out of the bullpen for her first career save, tossing two scoreless innings while yielding just one hit in the seventh.
"A good team win, nice to get a good team win," head coach
Jo Ann Gordon said afterwards. "Jenna threw a strong five innings and Milena came in and shut the door."

Abby Cantrell (Gibsonburg, Ohio/Gibsonburg H.S.) with the game's first run. The Gray Wolves added a run in the fourth, taking advantage of a pair Carlow errors.
The Celtics cut the Lourdes lead in half in the bottom of the fourth, taking advantage of a walk and an error, but that would be their lone offense for the day until the two-out double in the seventh.
Hailey Cramer (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) blasted her first career home run to lead off the six while
Ashleigh Riffle (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon H.S.) singled home
Emily Wallace (Thornville, Ohio/Lakewood H.S.) with an insurance run in the seventh.
Lourdes tallied nine hits against Carlow, including two each from Wallace and
Shylee Schmeltz (Gibsonburg, Ohio/Gibsonburg H.S.).
Morgan Pierce took the loss (0-1) for the Celtics, allowing the second inning run and four hits in two innings of work. She struck out four.
In the day's opener against Saint Xavier (14-1), Lourdes managed seven hits, but left nine runners on base. Manley and
Kayla Gauthier (Linwood, Mich./Pinconning H.S.) each had two hits.
The Cougars scored a run in the opening inning, capitalizing on three walks and a single, but left the bases loaded. A RBI single in the fourth and a sacrifice fly in the fifth pushed the lead to 3-0 before Taylor Sterkowitz hit a two-run home run in the sixth. Saint Xavier added three more runs in the seventh, two of which were unearned.
Amanda Ruskowski went the distance for the win (5-0) in the circle, striking out five for the Cougars.
Ashley Riley (Oak Harbor, Ohio/Oak Harbor H.S.) suffered the loss (0-2), working 6.2 innings. She gave up 12 hits and eight runs, six of which were earned, and walked seven.
Lourdes (1-3) returns to Fortune Road on Tuesday as the Gray Wolves face Hannibal-LaGrange at 10:15 a.m. and Missouri Baptist at 12:30 p.m.
