Snow Sets Scoring Mark in Lourdes Win over Concordia

On an afternoon in which Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.) became Lourdes University's all-time leading scorer, it was a second half run which propelled the Gray Wolves to an 82-62 victory over Concordia (Mich.) inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

Snow's three-pointer with 11:46 to play in the first half put Lourdes in front 17-15 and gave the senior 1,498 career points, surpassing Zach Steinmetz's previous mark of 1,495 set from 2013-2016.  Snow finished the game with 12 points and now has 1,507 in his four years at Lourdes.

"I am excited for Clif," head coach Dennis Hopson said after the game.  "It's a heck of an accomplishment.  I'm also excited because I see the grown in our team over last year."

Neither team led by more than six in a first half that went back-and-forth.  The Gray Wolves started out hot from three-point range, making four of their first five, and shot 51.9% from the floor, including 42.9% from three-point range over the opening 20 minutes.  A 13-3 run by Lourdes late in the stanza allowed the hosts to take a 35-34 lead into intermission.

Concordia took the lead out of the locker room but a Mike Bruce (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ypsilanti H.S.) triple with 17 minutes left in the game put the Gray Wolves in front for good.  Ten straight points by Lourdes, capped by another Bruce three, pushed the lead to 55-44 at the 14:23 mark.

Minutes later, Lourdes again scored 10 unanswered points as the lead swelled to 18, 70-52, and the Gray Wolves led by as many as 24 down the stretch on the way to remaining atop the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings.

"We did a heck of a job in the second half," Hopson added.  "I thought we took too many jump shots in the first half."

Little Anderson (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) led Lourdes with a season-high 20 points, shooting a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor, including 4-of-4 from long range.  Bruce added 13 while Snow and Nick Welch (Temperance, Mich./Saint Mary Catholic Central H.S.) added 12 each.  Welch also pulled down 15 rebounds as part of a double-double.

Kenny Coleman (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) scored nine point, handed out five assists, and had four steals without committing a turnover in the win.

Lourdes finished the game shooting 52.6% from the floor, including 12-of-25 (48%) from three-point range.  The Gray Wolves limited the Cardinals to just 37.9% shooting, including just 30% after halftime.

Zackary Johnson led Concordia (4-4, 2-1 WHAC) with 19 points.

Lourdes (6-2, 4-0) will take to the road on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves travel to Adrian, Mich. to battle Siena Heights.  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. inside of SHU Fieldhouse.
