Lourdes Falls in Non-Conference Action at Bethel

Lourdes stepped out of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 25-14, 21-25, 25-17, 25-18 match to Bethel (Ind.) on the road inside of Wiekamp Athletic Center in Mishawaka, Ind.

"We played pretty well enough to take a set, but not well enough to win the match," head coach Greg Reitz said following the contest.  "We will have to get back to work to make some improvements, so we are ready for our next opportunity."

The Pilots hit a blistering .385 for the match, putting down 64 kills, while adding 11 blocks defensively.  Lourdes hit .214 for the afternoon and outdug Bethel 50-47.

Bethel (19-5) scored the first seven points of the match and never looked back in the opening set.  Lourdes returned the favor, taking an early 7-2 lead in set two while hitting .382 on the way to evening the match.

In the third, the Pilots led 18-15 before closing the stanza on a 7-3 run and used a 5-0 spurt midway through the fourth to pull away and claim the victory.

Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield H.S.) led Lourdes with 14 kills and hit .314 while McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) added 12 more kills.  Kylee McBride (Phoenix, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) added 11 kills while Katey Stakolich (Parma, Ohio/Normandy H.S.) handed out 36 assists.

Stakolich led the defense with 15 digs as well while Hall also had a double-double with 10 digs.  Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) recorded 13 digs.
