Lourdes played to its sixth tie of the 2021 season on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves and Lawrence Tech remained scoreless after 110 minutes of action in its final home match of the regular season at Wildcat Stadium.
The match was the Gray Wolves' annual Cancer Match, in which the team raised funds for The Victory Center.
"This was a gritty conference match-up today," head coach
Jackie Phillips said afterwards. "The girls really showed their resilient character and earned a point on the day."
Emmy Rodger (Romeo, Mich./Romeo H.S.) made eight saves in goal for the Gray Wolves while Rebecca Almandoz made four stops for Lawrence Tech. The Blue Devils outshot Lourdes 15-11 for the match, including 4-2 in the two overtime sessions.
Abigail Mann (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) accounted for four total shot attempts for Lourdes while all three of
Brynn McGarvey's (Meridian, Idaho/Rocky Mountain H.S.) shots were on goal. Jenny Dar had five shots for Lawrence Tech (5-7-3, 2-4-2 WHAC).
Lourdes had a slight 5-4 edge in corner kick opportunities, but the Blue Devils had two of the three in extra time.
Lourdes (7-3-6, 4-2-3) will take to the road on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to face Concordia (Mich.). Kickoff is set for noon at Cardinal Stadium.
