Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lourdes Sets Single Season Shutout Record in Win at Concordia (Mich.)

Lourdes registered its school-record seventh shutout of the season on Wednesday afternoon and in the process picked up a big three points in the standings with a 2-0 victory on the road over Concordia (Mich.) at Cardinal Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

"The girls played very good soccer today," head coach Jackie Phillips said afterwards.  "Our possession and ability to combine created dangerous chances against a good team.  This was a big three points for the team."

The Gray Wolves wasted little time getting on the scoreboard.  Just 37 seconds into the match Chloe Shaffer (Rossford, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) picked up a bouncing ball in the box following a Cardinal turnover and went up high over goalkeeper Anna Roman for her sixth goal of the season.  The tally proved to be her third match-winner of the year.

Lourdes outshot Concordia 8-5 in the opening 45 minutes in taking the advantage into intermission.

The Gray Wolves maintained their one goal advantage until late when Gianna Salatino (Eastlake, Ohio/Lake Catholic H.S.) had a throw-in.  She found Kayla Dillinger (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney H.S.), who collected the ball, turned, and fired far post for her first collegiate tally.  Salatino's assist was her first helper of the year as well.

Emmy Rodger (Romeo, Mich./Romeo H.S.) made four saves to keep Concordia (10-4-2, 4-3-2 WHAC) off the scoreboard and earn her fourth clean sheet of the season.  Roman made four first half saves for the Cardinals while Hayley Jacobson made two second half stops.

The Gray Wolves finished with a 15-12 shot advantage for the match.

Lourdes (8-3-6, 5-2-3) will close out the 2021 regular season on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Cornerstone.  Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Soccer Stadium.
