Lourdes Earns Senior Night Sweep of Lawrence Tech

Lourdes honored its senior class in style on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves registered a 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 sweep of Lawrence Tech inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

"We were able to put together a sound offensive performance tonight and our defense was really solid," head coach Greg Reitz said following the match.  "This was a great win for the program tonight but now we need to focus our attention on our next match."

Prior to the match the Gray Wolves recognized Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.), Rafa Borges (Uberlandia, Brazil/CESEC), Michaela Eisenhauer (Castalia, Ohio/Margaretta H.S.), Vanessa Villarreal (Monroe, Mich./Saint Mary Central Catholic H.S.), and Yasmin Assis (Salto, Brazil/Antonio Alves Aranha) for their contributions to the program and all five made an impact in the match.

Villarreal led the Gray Wolves offensively, putting down a team-high 12 kills without an error, hitting .500 on the night.  Plasencio registered a match-high 18 digs while Assis handed out 16 assists and had nine digs.  Borges was involved in three blocks while Eisenhauer had four to go along with a .417 hitting percentage for the evening.

Trailing 9-6 in the opening set, Lourdes went on an 11-1 run behind the serves of Plasencio and Assis to take control.  Four straight points when set two was tied at seven provided all the separation the Gray Wolves would need to take a 2-0 lead in the match.  Lourdes finished the third set on a flurry.  Trailing 16-14, Lourdes would score 11 of the final 12 points to secure the sweep.
