Lourdes Earns Three More Points with Win at Cleary

Lourdes remained unbeaten in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with a 5-0 victory over Cleary on Wednesday afternoon at Lake Trust Stadium in Howell, Mich.

"We had some quality combinations and ball movement from the girls today," head coach Jackie Phillips said after the match.  "They took care of business on the road and earned another important three points."

Brynn McGarvey (Meridian, Idaho/Rocky Mountain H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard just 13:53 into the match.  She took a cross from Abigail Mann (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.), settled the ball, and shot it over the top of the Cougar goalkeeper.

Kayla Dillinger (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney H.S.) picked up her first collegiate point starting the second goal with 14:04 to play before intermission.  She sent a cross through the penalty area to Chloe Shaffer (Rossford, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.), who found the open net for her team-leading fourth goal of the year.

McGarvey matched Shaffer for the team's scoring lead with her second goal of the match just 7:56 out of halftime.  Her first career multi-goal match came as a result of assists from Chloe Nofziger (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) and Alexis Gordon (Medina, Ohio/Medina H.S.).

Mann scored a goal of her own to make it 4-0 Lourdes with Dillinger and Erika Turk (Parma, Ohio/Parma H.S.) drawing the helpers.  Turk then concluded the scoring with a goal of her own with 19:53 to play as Cassie Stitt (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman H.S.) picked up the assist.

Lourdes outshot Cleary 30-7 for the evening, including 20-5 on goal.  Lily Yoder (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) stopped all five Cougar attempts to earn her second shutout of the season.  Juliana Caro made 15 saves in goal for Cleary (0-6, 0-4 WHAC).

Lourdes (6-1-4, 3-0-1) also had all eight corner kick opportunities in the match.

The Gray Wolves return home on Saturday evening to host 12th-ranked Aquinas.  Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
