Lourdes and Aquinas went toe-to-toe for 110 minutes on Saturday evening at Wildcat Stadium, but neither team could find the back of the net in a 0-0 double-overtime draw.
Neither team had a shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes, as Lourdes outshot the Saints 3-2 in the stanza.
The Saints put on the pressure in the second half, outshooting the Gray Wolves 9-4 overall, but
Igor Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Pentagono) made his only three saves of the night in the stanza to keep the match scoreless.
Both teams had one shot attempt in the first overtime, with Lourdes holding a 2-1 edge in the final 10 minutes. Jared Ireland made his only stop of the game in net for Aquinas (2-4-2, 2-1-1 WHAC) in the second overtime to preserve the shutout.
Aquinas held a 6-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities. The shutout was the third of the season for Silva.
The match was the first overtime contest of the season for the Gray Wolves and the team's first scoreless draw since Sept. 26, 2018 against Indiana Tech.
Lourdes (6-4-1, 1-2-1) takes to the road on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Livonia, Mich. to face Madonna. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at the Madonna Athletic Complex.
