Lourdes Scores Record-Setting Performance in Win at Penn State-Shenango

Lourdes reset its school record for points in a game for the second time this season as the Gray Wolves rolled to a 117-78 victory over Penn State-Shenango on Monday evening inside the Buhl Recreation Center in Sharon, Pa.

The Gray Wolves broke their previous mark of 116 points set earlier this season against East-West.  This was the third time this year Lourdes scored 115 points or more.

The Gray Wolves took control early in the game and never looked back.  Trailing 9-6 four minutes into the contest, Lourdes scored the next 10 points to take the lead for good while beginning a 30-4 run over the next 10 minutes. The Gray Wolves took a 46-26 lead into the locker room behind 38 points in the paint in the opening 20 minutes.

The offensive onslaught continues as the second half opened, with Lourdes scoring 23 points in the first five minutes to increase the advantage to 69-34.  After Lourdes led by as many as 50, 96-46, a Ben Palma (Dayton, Ohio/Huber Heights H.S.) triple with seven minutes to play allowed the Gray Wolves to reach the century mark.  Palma then scored the record-setting points in the closing seconds.

McRay White (Cleveland, Ohio/Garfield Heights H.S.) led Lourdes with 23 points while Nick Welch (Temperance, Mich./Saint Mary Catholic Central H.S.) and Jackie Harris (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) both registered double-doubles.  Welch scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Harris added 17 points and 14 boards.

Joey Holifield (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) scored 13 points, Charles Swain (Cincinnati, Ohio/North College Hill H.S.) added 11 while Little Anderson (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) chipped in 10 as six Gray Wolves finished in double figures.  All 10 Lourdes players that dressed scored at least four points.

Lourdes shot 57% from the floor for the evening and scored 80 points in the paint to offset 23 turnovers.

Malik Davis led all scorers with 28 points for Penn State-Shenango (6-10) while Jashun Cobb added 20 more for the Lions.  The hosts shot just 36% from the floor for the night and committed 22 miscues.
