Lourdes matched its fifth-highest scoring output in program history on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves defeated Bethel (Ind.) at Wildcat Stadium as part of its annual Cancer Match to raise money for The Victory Center.
"I was proud of the collective effort and each player's contribution on the field today," head coach
Jackie Phillips said afterwards. "It was great to get the win as well as raise money for a local organization that supports those battling cancer."
The Gray Wolves controlled the entire match, holding a 24-5 shot advantage, including an 11-2 edge on goal.
Lourdes found the scoreboard less than seven minutes into the contest as
Chloe Shaffer (Rossford, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) netted her second goal of the season, scoring off a deflection.
With less than three minutes to play before intermission,
Jules Snowden (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming H.S.) scored her first career goal off a corner kick taken by
McKenzie Klingensmith (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls H.S.), who tallied her first collegiate assist.
Holding a 2-0 lead at intermission, the Gray Wolves came out quickly in the second half, scoring a pair of goals just over five minutes apart.
Elaina Hillman (Woodhaven, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) found the back of the goal for the first time in her collegiate career before
Chole Nofziger (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) added her first tally as a Gray Wolf, taking advantage of a misplay by the Pilots' goalkeeper.
Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) started in goal and did not face a shot over the first 67 minutes before
Lily Yoder (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) made two saves in relief. Krstein Terrell made 11 saves in goal for Bethel (1-12).
The Gray Wolves also held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks for the match.
Lourdes (3-7) will close out the home portion of its schedule on Saturday afternoon, entertaining Rochester (Mich.) in a make-up from an October postponement. Kickoff is set for noon with Senior Day activities taking place prior to the contest.
