Indiana Tech tallied the lone goal of the afternoon with just over 17 minutes to play on Wednesday as the Warriors defeated Lourdes 1-0 at Warrior Athletic Field in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Neither team had many offensive opportunities in the opening 45 minutes, with Indiana Tech holding a 4-3 edge in shot attempts.
The Warriors had a chance to take the lead with just over 32 minutes to play in the second half. After being awarded a penalty kick, the attempt was sent high over the goal.
Bailey Elliott connected at the 17:06 mark from about 25 yards out, lofting the ball into the far post for what proved to be the match-winning goal.
Lourdes had seven second half shot attempts, finishing the match with 10, but was unable to find the equalizer.
Maria Schmidt (Rockton, Ill./Boylan Catholic H.S.) put both of her shots on net while
Abigail Mann (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) took four shots, one of which was on goal.
Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made nine saves for the Gray Wolves while Christian Wynn stopped all three shots she faced for Indiana Tech (3-9, 3-5 WHAC).
Lourdes (4-8, 1-6) will continue its road trip on Saturday afternoon, heading to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face 18
th-ranked Aquinas. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Aquinas Athletic Field.
