Aquinas scored three times in the first 12 minutes on Saturday afternoon as the 18
th-ranked Saints defeated Lourdes 3-0 at the Aquinas Athletic Field in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Lourdes managed just two shot attempts on the afternoon, with neither of
Abigail Mann's (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) or
Emily Johnson's (Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer H.S.) attempt being on net.
Madison Mohr started the scoring for the Saints, receiving a corner kick from Hannah Crum and finding the back of the net just 4:22 into the contest. In the ninth minute, Macy Hollingsworth made it 2-0 Aquinas taking a feed from Ariana Garcia and finding the top right corner from outside the box.
Sydney Shenk concluded the scoring at the 11:10 mark, receiving a pass from Crum just inside the box and finding the lower right corner.
Aquinas (8-1, 6-0 WHAC) outshot the Gray Wolves 26-2 on the afternoon and had all eight corner kick opportunities on the day.
Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made four first half saves in goal for Lourdes while
Lily Yoder (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) stopped both attempts she faced in the second half. Braeleigh McCoy was credited with a shutout for Aquinas without making a stop.
Lourdes (4-9, 1-7) will remain on the road Thursday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Livonia, Mich. to face Madonna. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Madonna Athletic Complex.
