Lourdes Drops WHAC Finale 3-1 at Madonna

Lourdes closed out the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference portion of its schedule on Thursday, suffering a 3-1 setback to Madonna at the Madonna Athletic Complex in Livonia, Mich.

The Crusaders took a 1-0 lead into halftime behind a Holly McManus goal with just over nine minutes to play before intermission.  Madonna limited the Gray Wolves to just one shot attempt in the opening 45 minutes.

With just over 21 minutes to play, Sierra Nissan made it 2-0 Crusaders, scoring from just outside the box.  McManus added her second goal of the match with 13:27 to play as the hosts built a 3-0 lead.

Alexis Gordon (Medina, Ohio/Medina H.S.) put Lourdes on the scoreboard less than a minute later, tallying her second goal of the year.  She took a feed from Erika Turk (Parma, Ohio/Parma H.S.) on the outside and beat the keeper to the far side.

Madonna (5-3, 5-2 WHAC) finished the match with a 23-4 shot advantage, including a 12-1 edge on goal.  Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made four first half stops in goal for the Gray Wolves while Lily Yoder (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) made five saves over the final 45 minutes.

Lourdes (4-10, 1-8) will close out the 2020 (21) regular season on Monday evening, traveling to Riverview, Mich. to face Michigan-Dearborn.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Gabriel Richard H.S.
