Lourdes avenged its lone loss of the season on Tuesday evening, sweeping ninth-ranked Indiana Tech 25-22, 25-16, 25-22 on Senior Night inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center to move into sole possession of first place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings.

"We hit very efficiently tonight with good distribution across the net," head coach
Greg Reitz said after the match. "We had a strong blocking presence that allowed our defense to make good transition plays."

The Gray Wolves hit .365 for the night with a 46-29 advantage in kills while outblocking the Warriors 8-2.Â
Jeff Lam (Richmond, B.C./Hugh McRoberts H.S.) hit .516 with 17 kills while committing just one error and
Ricardo Gehrke (Blumenau, Brazil/Escola Barao Do Rio Branco) added 14 kills and hit .312.Â

Lourdes took control of the opening set midway through. A 5-1 run opened up an 18-14 advantage and the Gray Wolves never allowed Indiana Tech to get closer than two the rest of the set. Lourdes hit .414 in the first stanza.

The Gray Wolves led wire-to-wire in set two, racing out to a 7-2 lead. The Warriors closed to within two, 14-12, before a 6-1 run put the set out of reach. The third set had 10 ties, including as late as 21-21, before the Gray Wolves pulled out the set to complete the sweep.

Guga Heidrich (Braco do Norte, Brazil/Colegio Unificado) had a team-high 11 digs while
Bryant Herrera (Orlando, Fla./Freedom H.S.) tallied four blocks, including a solo stuff on match point.

Daynte Stewart led Indiana Tech (14-4, 9-2 WHAC) with seven kills while Joey Hermes had 13 digs. The Warriors hit just .155 for the night.

Lourdes (12-1, 10-1) will look to close out the WHAC regular season title in Saturday's finale, as the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Aquinas. First serve is set for 1 p.m. inside the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
