Upcoming in Gray Wolves Softball: Lourdes takes to the road for the first time in 2021 this week, with six games on the slate.  The Gray Wolves have recently added a doubleheader at Tiffin on Tuesday before heading to Ohio Christian for the weekend, where the Gray Wolves will face the Trailblazers twice along with Goshen for two games.

Head Coach Jo Ann Gordon: In her ninth season on the Lourdes bench, Jo Ann Gordon has a 92-189 (.327) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In her 19th season overall as a head softball coach, Gordon has a 244-477 (.338) career mark.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is meeting Tiffin on the diamond for the first time ever on Tuesday afternoon.  This weekend will also be the first time the Gray Wolves have ever met Ohio Christian or Goshen in softball action.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes managed just one hit in the season opener on Friday, dropping a 14-1 contest to Mount Vernon Nazarene.  In game two, the Cougars scored an 11-2 victory over the Gray Wolves with Hailey Cramer managing two hits.  In game one of Saturday's doubleheader, Cornerstone scored eight times in the final three innings for a 13-5 victory.  Emily Wallace had a two-hit contest for the Gray Wolves.  In game two, Lourdes managed 17 hits against the Golden Eagles ut fell 7-5.  Megan Richardson, Kayla Gauthier, and Alexis Nowowiecki all had three hits in the loss.

Scouting Tiffin: The Dragons picked up their first win in their last game, a 9-2 victory over Glenville State on Feb. 27.  Laura Teunion-Smith is hitting .444 for the Dragons with two runs batted in while Kaylee Savage has four RBI and a .364 batting average.  In the circle, Victoria Edwards has logged the most innings (8.0) and has a 3.50 earned run average with hitters batting .303 against her.

Scouting Ohio Christian: The Trailblazers are still looking for their first victory of the season after dropping a doubleheader at Edward Waters 5-0 and 12-1 on Saturday afternoon.  Ohio Christian hosts Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes and Goshen this weekend.  Roxianne Herdman is batting .364  while Hannah Miller is hitting .250 with a homer and two RBI.  In the circle, Hilarie Splitler has a 3.41 ERA and opponents are batting .245 against her.

Scouting Goshen: The Maple Leafs had their three-game winning streak snapped in game two against Cornerstone on Wednesday (March 3), falling 4-2 after winning the opener 8-5.  Goshen plays at Roosevelt on Monday and hosts Trinity International on Wednesday before heading to Circleville, Ohio.  Jessica Bachtell is batting a team-leading .375 while Jolie Groeneveld is hitting .353 with six runs batted in.  In the circle, Alisyn Catenacci as a 3.41 ERA and opponents are hitting .261 against her.
  
Lourdes In Season Openers: Lourdes fell to 2-7 all-time in its season openers with the 14-1 setback to Cornerstone on Friday.  The Gray Wolves opened the season at home for the first time in program history after playing neutral site games for the first eight years of existence.  Lourdes last won a season opener in 2017, a 4-3 win over #2 Saint Xavier.

A New Field: Lourdes christened its new home, Gray Wolf Field, with its doubleheader against Cornerstone last Friday.  The field, which is shared with Sylvania Northview High School, was ready for play in 2020, however COVID-19 struck prior to Lourdes hosting any games.

Swinging a Hot Bat: Kayla Gauthier hit safely in all four games over the opening weekend, tallying six hits in 13 at bats (.462).  In addition, she registered a pair of doubles and three runs batted in.  She extended her hitting streak to five games dating back to last season.

Crossing the Plate: Hailey Cramer scored five runs over the four games last weekend.  She reached base safely in all four games as well and now has a seven-game on base streak dating back to 2020.

Swiping Bases: Alyssa Ziegler recorded her 17th career stolen base over the weekend, moving her into a tie for fifth on the Gray Wolves' career charts.  She has matched Megan Mosiniak's (2013-2016) and Jamie Newman's (2015-2016) totals while in a Lourdes uniform.

New Faces: Lourdes had six players make their program debuts last week.  Maddy Bartos, Kenzie Cooke, Annalisse Palma, and Sam Stimmel are all freshmen this season while Megan Richardson and Ashley Roth both saw action for the first time after sitting out the 2020 campaign.

This and That: Lourdes committed 12 errors leading to 12 unearned runs last weekend ... the Gray Wolves are 18-69 all-time on the road and 36-56 in neutral site games ... Lourdes is 5-15 all-time in extra innings.
