Gray Wolves Fall in First Road Test of 2021

Taking to the road for the first time in 2021, Lourdes dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon, as Tiffin recorded 7-3 and 8-0 victories at Paradiso Fields in Tiffin, Ohio.

Lourdes jumped in front in the second inning of the opener.  Alexis Nowowiecki (Saint Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview H.S.) and Annalisse Palma (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview H.S.) recorded back-to-back singles with Nowowiecki eventually scoring on a fielder's choice off the bat of Ashley Riley (Oak Harbor, Ohio/Oak Harbor H.S.).

After the Dragons tied the game in the third, Lourdes scored a pair of runs with two outs.  Emily Wallace (Thornville, Ohio/Lakewood H.S.) and Riley both produced run-scoring singles in the inning.

Tiffin batted around in the fifth, scoring six times to take the lead and the Gray Wolves were unable to rally in their final two at bats.

In game two, Tiffin (3-3) scored all eight runs in the second inning on the way to the doubleheader sweep.  Three doubles, three singles, and three walks allowed the Dragons to pull in front.

The Gray Wolves put runners on second and third with one out in the second and loaded the bases in the third but were unable to drive in a run.

Ella Leonard (Lorain, Ohio/Midview H.S.) had two hits for the Gray Wolves as part of their eight-hit effort in game two.

Lourdes (0-6) will head to Circleville, Ohio on Saturday to face host Ohio Christian at 11 a.m. and Goshen at 3 p.m.
