Indiana-Kokomo had its bats come alive on Tuesday as the Cougars swept a doubleheader from Lourdes 20-4 and 7-6 at Mercy Field in a game that came about just 24 hours prior.
 
The Gray Wolves were slated to face Saint Francis (Ind.) but the Cougars had to make up league games, forcing Lourdes to swap opponents.
 
In the opener, the Cougars started fast, scoring seven times in the first and added eight more in the second to build a quick 15-0 lead.  Indiana-Kokomo took advantage of nine Lourdes walks along with a hit batter to score the 15 runs on just seven hits.
 
Noah Childress (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard with his 10^th home run of the season to deep left.
 
After Indiana-Kokomo added three more runs in the fifth, Lourdes plated three in the bottom of the inning.  Devin Rooks (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer H.S.) doubled home a run and Matt McEachern (Burlington, Ont./Hayden Secondary H.S.) added a pinch-hit two-run single.
 
Indiana-Kokomo would add two final runs in the seventh, scoring 20 runs on just 14 hits in the game.
 
Lourdes had 10 hits in the opener with Childress going 4-for-4 to pace the offense.
 
Ryan Beck earned the win (1-1), allowing one run on three hits while striking out four in three innings.  Zach Brown (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) suffered the loss (2-2), yielding seven runs on just one hit, but walked five in 0.2 innings of work.
 
In game two, Lourdes took the lead in the opening inning.  Rooks had an infield single, and a throwing error allowed Childress to score before Brad Ammons (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) singled home Harrison Jackson (Millbury, Ohio/Lake H.S.) one batter later. 
 
After the Cougars tied the game in the second, Lourdes answered in the bottom of the frame as Jay Denman (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) tripled home Ryan Jagodzinski (Perrysburg, Ohio Rossford H.S.).  The Gray Wolves extended the lead to 4-2 on a Childress double in the fourth and carried the advantage into the sixth.
 
Indiana-Kokomo (19-16) tied the game with a two-out double in the sixth and plated three in the top of the seventh to go ahead, including two on a home run by Patrick Mills.
 
Lourdes tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh, as Childress and Jackson both scored on a passed ball and a wild pitch respectively, but the Gray Wolves fell a run short.
 
Owen Callaghan earned the win (4-4) in relief for the Cougars while Harrison Gargus (South Haven, Mich./South Haven H.S.) suffered the loss (2-1), allowing three runs in 1.1 innings of work.
 
Denman and Childress led a seven-hit attack with two hits each for the Gray Wolves.
 
Lourdes (13-17) will return to the diamond on Saturday afternoon, hosting Northwestern Ohio.  First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. at Mercy Field.
