Lourdes tied the game with less than two minutes remaining in regulation on Thursday afternoon, but Aquinas netted the game-winner with 1:31 to play in overtime as the Saints defeated the Gray Wolves 11-10 at the Aquinas Athletic Field.

Patrick Yannarelli said afterwards. Â "The team plays hard and we're getting better as a group and excited moving forward."

After
Nick Johnson (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) scored the game's first goal less than two minutes into the contest, Aquinas (3-3, 3-2 WHAC) scored the final three tallies of the opening period to build a two-goal advantage.

Lourdes dominated the second quarter, scoring five times, all within a four-minute span.Â
Tyler Pezzot (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek H.S.) scored twice and Johnson added another while
Drew Gilhooly (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central H.S.) and
Cory Campbell (Dayton, Ohio/Bellbrook H.S.) both found the back of the cage as well as the Gray Wolves built a 6-3 lead at intermission.

The Saints scored the first three goals of the third to even the contest before Campbell netted his second of the game, and Lourdes took a 7-6 advantage into the final 15 minutes.

Aquinas scored three straight goals to build a 9-7 lead before the Gray Wolves fought back.Â
Jake Noel (Knoxville, Tenn./William Blount H.S.) scored first and Pezzot followed, evening the game with 3:01 to play. Aquinas responded just 17 seconds later to retake the lead, but Pezzot's fourth tally of the game at the 1:56 mark evened the game at 10 and forced overtime.

The Gray Wolves had the first possession in the extra session, but Saint goalie made his 14
th save of the game before Nash West won the game for Aquinas with his goal with 1:31 to play in the overtime period.

Aquinas outshot Lourdes 38-32 for the game but
Tyler Queen (Odenton, Md./Arundel H.S.) made 15 saves in the cage for the Gray Wolves. Lourdes had a 39-31 ground ball advantage, led by
Nate Allan (Peterbourgh, Ont./Saint Peters Catholic H.S.) who had nine.Â
Zach Stahura (Stillwater, Mich./Stillwater H.S.) won 19-of-23 faceoffs for the Gray Wolves.

Lourdes (5-4, 3-3) will close out the regular season on Saturday evening, hosting Taylor. The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
