On the final day of the 2021 regular season, Lourdes split a doubleheader with Lawrence Tech, winning the opener 9-6 before falling in game two 15-11 at Jimmy Johns Field in Utica, Mich.
 
Noah Childress (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) started Lourdes quickly in the opener, hitting a two-run homer just two batters into the game to put the Gray Wolves in front 2-0.
 
The Blue Devils tied the game in the third, but the Gray Wolves immediately answered in the fourth.  Jay Denman (Toledo, Ohio, Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) launched a three-run home run to put Lourdes on top 5-2.  Matt McEachern (Burlington, Ont./Hayden Secondary H.S.) added a RBI single in the sixth and Brad Ammons (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) plated a run when he reached on an error to increase the lead to five.
 
After Lawrence Tech tallied two in the bottom of the sixth, Denman singled home two more runs in the seventh, giving him five RBI for the game.  The Blue Devils added two late runs in the ninth but were unable to complete the comeback.
 
Anderson Strunk (New Baltimore, Mich./Algonac H.S.) earned the win (3-4), working eight strong innings, allowing just four runs and four hits while striking out nine and not walking anyone.
 
Game two became a slugfest, with Lourdes pounding out 16 hits and Lawrence Tech (10-13, 4-6 WHAC) adding 18 of their own.
 
Childress drew a bases loaded walk in the second to put the Gray Wolves in front 1-0.  After Lawrence Tech plated four in the third, Childress came through again in the fourth, singling home a run.  The Blue Devils responded with three in the bottom of the inning though to lead 7-2 after four.
 
Lourdes battled back in the fifth, pulling within a run.  Michael Strzelewicz (Temperance, Mich./Saint Mary's Catholic Central H.S.) and Denman both delivered two-run doubles in the inning to make it a 7-6 game.
 
Lawrence Tech pushed the lead back to two with a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Lourdes took the lead in the seventh.  Ammons recorded a two-run double and Corey Righman (Ashville, Ohio/Teays Valley H.S.) and Zack Mon (Columbus, Ohio/Westland H.S.) each added run-scoring singles.  Strzelewicz reached on a fielder's choice later in the inning to score another run, making it 11-8 Gray Wolves.
 
The Blue Devils tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the seventh and added four more in the eighth to pull out the win.
 
Childress went 4-for-4 in the nightcap while Ammons had three hits.
