Lourdes Offense Silenced in Loss to Lawrence Tech

Lourdes struggled shooting the ball and Lawrence Tech forced numerous Gray Wolf turnovers as the Blue Devils notched a 56-42 victory on Saturday afternoon inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

The Gray Wolves were limited to just 32.7% shooting from the floor, including 26.7% (4-of-15) from three-point range and committed 28 turnovers on the afternoon.  Lourdes also made just 4-of-9 (44.4%) free throws.

Lourdes led 11-9 midway through the opening quarter before being held without a field goal for more than four minutes as Lawrence Tech scored the next seven points to take the lead for good.  The Gray Wolves managed just two baskets in the second quarter as both teams slowed offensively.  Neither team scored for more than four minutes during one stretch with the Blue Devils taking a 28-20 advantage into the locker room.

The Gray Wolves again had just two field goals in the third period, falling behind by 16 heading into the fourth.  Back-to-back triples by Winter Richburg (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers H.S.) and Logan Ingram (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant H.S.) cut the deficit to 10, 42-32, with seven minutes to play but Lawrence Tech responded with the next seven points to put the game out of reach.

Mercedes Wagner (Sherwood, Ohio/Fairview H.S.) scored a team-high 13 points for the Gray Wolves, while Shae Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) added 11 and Ingram finished with 10 more.  Shallyn Miley (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan H.S.) pulled down a team-high 15 rebounds as Lourdes outboarded Lawrence Tech 41-33.

Julia Huey was the only player to post double figures for Lawrence Tech (11-13, 7-7 WHAC), scoring 18 points while Kendall Fisher handed out nine assists.  The Blue Devils shot 39.3% from the floor but made 8-of-16 (50%) three-pointers to offset 22 turnovers.

Lourdes (7-14, 1-11) closes out its five-game homestand on Monday evening making up a Jan. 15 postponement against Rochester (Mich.).  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
