Lourdes Blanks Concordia for Season’s Seventh Shutout

Brynn McGarvey (Meridian, Idaho/Rocky Mountain H.S.) scored the lone goal of the match and Emmy Rodger (Romeo, Mich./Romeo H.S.) set the school's single season shutout record as Lourdes defeated Concordia (Mich.) 1-0 on Wednesday night at Wildcat Stadium.

The clean sheet was the seventh of the season for Rodger, bettering Erika Brinkman's 2015 record of six.  The seven shutouts as a team also tie the school mark for a season.

McGarvey put Lourdes in front at the 16:24 mark of the first half.  After her initial shot was saved, she fired her own rebound past Hayley Jacobson for her third goal of the season.  All three of her tallies this year have been match-winners.  The sophomore now has five career match-winning goals, joining three others to match the all-time record at Lourdes.

Lourdes continued to put on the pressure, outshooting the Cardinals 14-3 in the opening stanza, but was unable to find the back of the net again.  The Gray Wolves also had the only five shots of the second half and held a 6-1 edge in corner opportunities on the night but was unable to add an insurance goal the rest of the way.

Rodger made two saves in the shutout while Jacobson made nine stops for Concordia (2-11-2, 1-6-1 WHAC).

Lourdes (6-3-4, 4-3-1) remains home on Saturday night to host Siena Heights.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
