Lourdes Swept by Siena Heights Saturday

Lourdes began its final homestand of the season on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 25-17, 27-25, 25-16 decision to Siena Heights inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

"As good as we were last night, we didn't achieve that same level today," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "We didn't serve well and couldn't get into a rhythm."

The Saints jumped out to an early lead, scoring nine of the match's first 10 points.  Lourdes fought back to within four, 13-9, but that would be as close as the Gray Wolves would get in the opening set.

The second set was close throughout with 11 ties and five lead changes.  The Gray Wolves had a 21-17 lead late and eventually had a pair of set points at 24-22 but were unable to close out the set.  Siena Heights rallied, scoring five of the final six points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Siena Heights (21-7, 16-2 WHAC) led the entire way in the third set on the way to completing the sweep.  The Saints jumped out to a 10-3 lead.  Lourdes battled back to within four, 20-16, only to see the Saints score the final five points to close out the match.

Cammy Smith (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario H.S.) led Lourdes with seven kills and hit .333 as the team hit juts .068 for the afternoon.  Katey Stakolich (Parma, Ohio/Normandy H.S.) handed out 23 assists and tallied 15 digs for a double-double.

McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) led the defense with 21 digs while Jolie Sobb (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) added 15 more.  Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield H.S.) and Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) each tallied 12 digs.

Olivia Norman led Siena Heights with 13 kills while Payton Osborne had 25 digs.

Lourdes (12-16, 8-11) closes out the 2022 regular season on Wednesday evening hosting the University of Northwestern Ohio.  First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center with Senior Night activities taking place prior to the match.
