Lourdes opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening, dropping a 64-50 contest to Concordia (Mich.) inside Cardinal Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Emma Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) led Lourdes with 17 points while
Shae Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) added 13 more to pace the Gray Wolf offense.

"We didn't finish shots tonight nor did we handle the adversity of playing on the road," head coach
Tandy Bradford said afterwards. "We had some good moments and others that weren't so good. We need to compete for four quarters."

A 9-1 run by the Cardinals in the first half put the hosts in front for good, 12-6, as Concordia held Lourdes without a field goal for more than five minutes. After the hosts pushed the lead to nine, Lourdes scored six straight points to pull within 19-16 midway through the second period. Concordia went on a 13-0 run over four minutes to take a 16-point lead before taking a 34-20 advantage into the locker room.

The Gray Wolves battled back in the third. Lourdes scored the first 10 points of the stanza as part of a 15-2 run that pulled the Gray Wolves within one, 36-35, with 5:39 remaining in the quarter. Lourdes was unable to pull even or take the lead though, and trailed by five, 47-42, heading into the final 10 minutes.

Concordia extended the lead to 10 early in the fourth and led by double figures for the final five minutes on the way to the win.

Lourdes shot just 31.1% from the floor for the game, and made just 2-of-17 (11.8%) in the fourth period.

Samantha Dorn led Concordia (3-2, 1-0 WHAC) with 15 points while Julia Hirt added 12 more off the bench.

Lourdes (2-2, 0-1) returns home on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Michigan-Dearborn. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
