Lourdes closed out the 2022 calendar year and non-conference play on Thursday evening, dropping a 73-52 decision to Roosevelt inside the Goodman Center in Chicago, Ill.
 
"We battled a talented and experienced Roosevelt team," head coach Tandy Bradford said.  "We will grow from this game and be ready to get back into WHAC play and compete."
 
After Roosevelt (6-6) scored the game's first five points, Lourdes responded with a 14-2 run to build a seven-point advantage, 14-7, with 1:33 to play in the opening period.  The Gray Wolves maintained a five-point edge into the second quarter.  With Lourdes leading 18-15, the Lakers used a 10-1 spurt to pull in front for good on the way to a 28-23 lead at the break.
 
Ten straight points by Roosevelt in the early stages of the third quarter pushed the hosts lead to 18.  Lourdes would climb back to within 13 late in the stanza, only to see Roosevelt end the quarter with back-to-back three-pointers.  The Lakers would maintain an advantage between 16 and 23 points throughout the final quarter.
 
Emma Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) led Lourdes with nine points while Zaria Bridgewater (Detroit, Mich./Henry Ford Academy) added eight more.  The Gray Wolves would shoot just 31.7% from the floor on the evening.  Macie Stringfellow (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
 
Kencia Levasseur led five Lakers in double figures with 17 points while Amelia McNutt added 15 more. 
 
Lourdes (6-10) returns to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Jan. 7 as the Gray Wolves entertain Rochester (Mich.).  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
