Joey Holifield's (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) basket with 1.6 seconds remaining lifted Lourdes to a 77-76 victory over Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
 
"We have to work on consistency," head coach Dennis Hopson said afterwards.  "We need to get better."
 
Lawrence Tech started quickly, building a 12-2 lead while holding the Gray Wolves scoreless from the floor for the first 5:30 of the game.  Lourdes battled back, pulling even at 17 on a Holifield three-pointer before taking the lead on another triple at the 7:09 mark.  With the Gray Wolves in front 24-21, the Blue Devils went on a 12-2 run before Jackie Harris (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) made a three just before halftime to cut the Lourdes deficit to 35-29.
 
The Gray Wolves started fast in the second half, taking a 45-44 lead just five minutes into the stanza on a Charles Swain (Cincinnati, Ohio/North College Prep H.S.) three-pointer, the first of 11 second half lead changes.  Lourdes led by one with nine minutes to play when Andrew Rinn made three straight triples for the Blue Devils to give the visitors a 67-59 lead with six minutes remaining.
 
Lourdes battled back to pull event on a Jordique Vincent (Orlando, Fla./Monteverde Academy) lay-in with 1:41 to play before a Holifield basket on the next possession put the Gray Wolves in front 73-71 heading into the final minute.  Alejandro Gonzalez put the Blue Devils back in front with a triple with 43.8 seconds to play.  After a Lourdes miss, Rinn made a pair of free throws with 12.0 left to push the lead to three.
 
Holifield was fouled bringing the ball up the court with 9.8 seconds left and made a pair from the free throw line.  Leading by three, Lawrence Tech was then immediately fouled.  The Blue Devils missed the front end of a one-and-one and Holifield raced down the court, hitting the game-winning jumper with 1.6 ticks left on the clock.
 
Holifield matched his season-high with 21 points while Harris added 14.  Brett Lauf (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) and Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.) both came off the bench to contribute 11 and 10 points respectively. 
 
Rinn led Lawrence Tech (5-6, 2-4 WHAC) with 27 points, including seven three-pointers.  He scored 20 points and drained six triples after halftime.  Gunnar Gustafson added 16 points.
 
Lourdes (8-2, 4-2) takes to the road on Friday evening, traveling to Livonia, Mich. to face Madonna.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. inside the Allied Catholic Credit Union Arena.
