Lourdes earned its fourth consecutive victory and head coach
Greg Reitz notched his 200
th career men's coaching victory on Saturday evening as Lourdes swept Lawrence Tech 25-18, 25-17, 25-10 inside of Ridler Field House in Southfield, Mich.
"This was a good win for us," Reitz said afterwards as he improved to 200-73 all-time on the men's side. "After an emotional win last night, we were able to maintain our level of execution today. We served and passed well."
The Gray Wolves hit .325 on the evening with
Jeff Lam (Richmond, B.C./Hugh McRoberts H.S.) putting down 14 kills while swinging at a .429 clip.
Sawyer Schafer (Monroeville, Ohio/Monroeville H.S.) ran the offense, handing out 26 assists while defensively
Guga Heidrich (Braco do Norte, Brazil/Colegio Unificado) recorded 14 digs.
Harrison McBean (Melbourne, Australia/Northern College of the Arts H.S.) added six blocks.
The opening set had nine ties, the latest coming at 15-15, before the Gray Wolves closed the stanza on a 10-3 run. Lourdes limited Lawrence Tech to -.031 hitting in the set, as the Blue Devils made 10 attack errors.
Lourdes hit a blistering .379 in set three with just three errors while putting down 14 kills in taking a 2-0 lead in the match. A 6-2 run midway through broke the set open, giving Lourdes an 18-11 advantage.
In set three, Lawrence Tech managed just five kills. Lourdes went on a 12-1 run to build a 20-6 advantage on the way to completing the sweep.
Jeffry Fuhrmann led Lawrence Tech (7-7, 0-6 WHAC) with 12 kills as the Blue Devils hit .03 for the match.
Lourdes (8-2, 6-2) returns home on Thursday evening to begin a three-match homestand as the Gray Wolves entertain Mount Vernon Nazarene. First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
