No. 17 Indiana Tech Pulls Away from Lourdes in Second Half

Lourdes was with six of 17th-ranked Indiana Tech at halftime on Monday evening before the Warriors outscored the Gray Wolves by nine in the third period on the way to a 63-48 victory inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

"We battled tonight, but we need to play for four quarters," head coach Tandy Bradford said afterwards.  "I thought we made some good adjustments, but we need to control what we are capable of.  We needed to do a better job of rebounding tonight."

Both teams were held scoreless for nearly four minutes to open the game before Nadeen Jemaa (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) for Lourdes with a three-pointer.  Indiana Tech responded with eight of the next 10 points and also scored the final five points of the stanza to take a 14-11 lead after 10 minutes.

The Gray Wolves were within two, 16-14, after a Maddie Norton (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) triple early in the second before Indiana Tech extended its lead to 26-17.  The Lourdes defense did not allow a field goal for the final four minutes of the half though as the Gray Wolves pulled to within 27-21 at the break.

Out of the locker room, Indiana Tech went on a 12-3 run to open the third period, pushing the lead to 15, and the Warriors would maintain a double figure advantage the rest of the way.  Trailing 51-33 early in the fourth, Lourdes would cut its deficit down to 13, 52-39, with just under five minutes to play, but was unable to get any closer.

Alex Wolfe (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) led Lourdes with 11 points off the bench while Norton, Jemaa, and Shae Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) added nine points each.  The Gray Wolves shot just 30.9% from the floor on the night but committed only 13 turnovers.

Erika Foy led all scorers with 19 points for Indiana Tech (24-2, 16-1 WHAC) while Emma Tuominen and Bethany Worm added 14 each.  Taya Andrews had a game-high 10 rebounds as the Warriors finished the game with a 40-28 edge on the boards.

The Gray Wolves limited Indiana Tech to 39.6% shooting for the game and forced 14 turnovers.

Lourdes (10-16, 3-13) takes to the road on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to battle Concordia (Mich.).  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. inside of Cardinal Fieldhouse.
