Lourdes began its first of two games on Tuesday, but heavy rain and lightning forced both games the Gray Wolves' contests against Doane and Dordt to be cancelled at Fortune Field in Kissimmee, Fla.
Â
With the Gray Wolves changing opponents less than 30 minutes before game time, Doane struck first with a run in the opening inning. The Tigers added single tallies in both the third and the fourth before Lourdes answered in the bottom of the frame.Â
Emily Wallace's (Thornville, Ohio/Lakewood H.S.) sacrifice fly drove home pinch-runner
Madie Wagner (Sycamore, Ohio/Wynford H.S.) to make it a 3-1 game.
Â
Lightning struck after the fourth inning and the heavy rains began to fall shortly thereafter, flooding the fields. The game officially was cancelled, as five innings were not completed.
Â
Lourdes (2-1) is slated to return to the diamond in Kissimmee on Thursday morning. The Gray Wolves will face Spring Arbor at 9:15 a.m. and Trinity Christian at 11:30 a.m.
