Quick Start Lifts Lourdes to Win over Cleary

Lourdes scored the first 12 goals of the game on Wednesday and had 13 different goal scorers as the Gray Wolves defeated Cleary 16-3 at Wildcat Stadium.
 
The Gray Wolves scored eight goals in the opening quarter before taking a 12-1 lead into halftime.  Lourdes added two goals in each quarter after the break on the way to the team's third consecutive victory.
 
Liam Wisniewski (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) scored twice and added a pair of assists to lead the offense with a four-point game while Tyler Pezzot (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek H.S.) and Tanner Allan (Qualicum Beach, B.C./Kwualicum H.S.) each tallied a pair of goals as well.  For Allan, it was his first two goals of the year.
 
Pezzot added an assist for a three-point day while Chad Causley (Clinton Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse H.S.) dished out two helpers along with scoring a goal to finish with three points as well.
 
Clay Hall (Great Mills, Md./Saint Mary's Ryken H.S.), Lucas Semler (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon H.S.), Josh Balcom (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota Military H.S.), Logan Kane (Castaic, Calif./West Ranch H.S.), and Garrett Boersma (Norco, Calif./Norco H.S.) all found the back of the cage for the first time this season.
 
Lourdes finished with a 33-25 edge in shots for the game, with Xander Slate (Stockton, Calif./Saint Mary's H.S.) madding four saves in goal in 30 minutes of action.
 
The Gray Wolves won 16-of-23 faceoffs and held a 48-32 edge in ground balls as well.  Ezequel Ceant (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach H.S.) won 14 of his 20 opportunities at the X and led the Gray Wolves with nine ground balls.
 
Lourdes (7-3, 4-2 WHAC) will close out the regular season on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves host Aquinas on Senior Night.  The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
