Upcoming in Gray Wolves Softball: Thanks to make-up games, Lourdes is set for a busy week of softball action as the Gray Wolves play eight games in five days.  The week begins on Wednesday with a trip to Siena Heights before Indiana Tech visits Gray Wolf Field on Thursday.  This weekend Lourdes has a visit to Concordia (Mich.) and a home doubleheader against Lawrence Tech.

Head Coach Caitlin Blanchard: In her first season on the Lourdes bench, Caitlin Blanchard has a 5-10 (.333) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as a collegiate head coach.  She is the only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Siena Heights holds an 11-8 series edge against Lourdes dating back to April 21, 2013.  The two schools split last year's doubleheader at Gray Wolf Field with the Saints winning the opener 7-6 and The Gray Wolves taking game two 2-1.  Lourdes is 9-7 all-time against Indiana Tech dating back to April 23, 2013.  The Gray Wolves swept a doubleheader last season in Fort Wayne, Ind. by scores of 7-2 and 1-0.  Concordia (Mich.) holds a 14-5 advantage against Lourdes in a series that began April 17, 2013.  The Cardinals have won six straight in the series after a 4-0 and 10-5 sweep at Gray Wolf Field last year.  Lawrence Tech is 8-0 all-time against Lourdes going back to March 29, 2017.  The Blue Devils won 8-4 and 3-2 in Southfield, Mich. last year to end the season.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened WHAC play on Wednesday dropping a doubleheader at home to Michigan-Dearborn 7-0 and 2-1 in eight innings.  The Gray Wolves managed just three hits in game one while Milena Applegate went the distance, yielding just one earned run and five hits over the eight innings in the nightcap..

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Aquinas on Saturday, falling 10-2 and 6-3 on the road.  Courtnee Chappetta leads Siena Heights batting .507 with three home runs and 17 RBI while the Saints are hitting .318 as a team. In the circle, Jordan Green is 5-3 with a 2.67 earned run average.  Opponents are batting .259 against the Siena Heights staff.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors have won four straight after sweeping Concordia (Mich.) 8-7 and 6-1 at home on Sunday.  Indiana Tech heads to Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday before heading to Lourdes.  Olyvia Notter is batting a team-high .404 for a roster that is hitting .260 as a squad.  Hannah Milddlebrooks leads the hurlers with a 4-5 record and a 2.23 ERA with the pitching staff allowing the opposition to bat .273 against them.

Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals enter the week having dropped a twinbill at Indiana Tech 8-7 and 6-1 on Sunday.  Concordia faces Madonna on Wednesday before hosting the Gray Wolves.  Shannon McAlinden is hitting .448 with 19 runs batted in and Payton Lewis is hitting .443 with three homers and 27 RBI for a team hitting .312.  Hannah Duchene is 10-5 with a 2.34 ERA in the circle as Concordia pitchers are allowing teams to hit .275 against them.

Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils begin the week having dropped three straight after being swept by Madonna 11-1 and 6-1 on Sunday.  Lawrence Tech faces Michigan-Dearborn and Rochester (Mich.) this week before heading to Lourdes.  Katie Courneya is hitting a team-high .324 with eight RBI for a Blue Devil team batting .250.  Grace Roeske is 2-7 in the circle with a 5.59 ERA.  Opponents are hitting .323 against Lawrence Tech pitching.

Schedule Updates: Lourdes has rescheduled three postponements.  The Indiana Tech game from March 27 is being made up at home this Thursday.  The April 1 postponement at Cornerstone will be played in Grand Rapids, Mich. on April 18 while the April 2 postponement will be at Aquinas on April 26.

Streaking: Emily Wallace enters the week with a team-best six-game hitting streak dating back to March 20.  The junior is 8-for-15 (.533) during the stretch with a run scored and two RBI.  

Solid Pitching: Kirsten Smith and Milena Applegate have made a solid one-two punch for the Gray Wolves this season.  Smith sports a 3.66 ERA and has struck out 63 in 49.2 innings of work.  Applegate has posted a 3.82 ERA in 36.2 innings in the circle.

Offensive Leaders: Brooke Albert and Annalisse Palma both have five multi-hit games for the Gray Wolves in 15 appearances this season.  They lead the team in batting average at .362 and .333 respectively as well as in extra base hits with six and five each. Albert and Palma share the team lead with six stolen bases each as well.

Errors Lead to Unearned Runs: The Gray Wolves have committed 32 errors in 15 games this season, fielding at a .928 clip.  Of the 84 runs Lourdes has allowed, 25 have been of the unearned variety.

This and That: Megan Richardson has a team-high eight runs batted in ... Annalisse Palma, Brooke Albert, Richardson, and Emily Wallace are the only Lourdes players to start all 15 games ... the next 14 scheduled games are all WHAC contests.
