Lourdes took the opening set on Friday evening, but Rochester (Mich.) rallied for a four-set victory over the Gray Wolves 21-25, 25-19, 25-7, 25-23 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
The opening set saw seven ties, the latest at 20-20, before Lourdes scored five of the final six points to take the early lead in the match. Rochester responded in the second, jumping out to a 10-1 lead. The Gray Wolves tried to battle back, closing to within three, 18-15, but could not complete the comeback.
In the third, Lourdes managed just five kills and hit -.118. Rochester built a quick 10-2 lead and used another 10-0 run late to pull in front in the match. The Gray Wolves battled back from an 18-14 deficit in the fourth to take a 22-21 lead, however the Warriors scored the final four points to earn the win.
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) led Lourdes with nine kills as the Gray Wolves hit just .030 for the match.
Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) tallied 29 digs.
Olivia Pannecouk and Hailee Mancogna led Rochester (3-14, 1-4 WHAC) with 12 kills each as the Warriors swung at a .147 clip. Carly Rodman registered 36 digs for Rochester in the win.
Lourdes (6-7, 2-4) closes out its three-match homestand on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves entertain Madonna. First serve is set for 1 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
