Emmy Rodger (Romeo, Mich./Romeo H.S.) tied the Lourdes career shutout record with her eighth clean sheet as a Gray Wolf, making one stop on her way to her fourth shutout of the season.
"Our first team victory against Cornerstone in program history was a result of many important factors," head coach
Jackie Phillips said afterwards. "We had players stepping up to make the most of their opportunities, good tactical decision making and problem solving in the final third, and an all-in-one team mentality. Needless to say, we were proud of their efforts this evening."
Kayla Dillinger (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney H.S.) put Lourdes in front in the 15
th minute, connecting on her first career match-winner while becoming the team's first multi-goal scorer of the season. Dillinger collected a bouncing ball in the goalmouth following a corner kick from
Emily Johnson (Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer H.S.).
Lourdes led 1-0 at the break while holding a 5-4 shot advantage. The Gray Wolves would outshoot Cornerstone (3-3-1, 0-1 WHAC) 6-2 over the final 45 minutes to finish with an 11-6 shot edge while adding an insurance tally.
Chloe Shaffer (Rossford, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) sent a pass across the top of the box to
Erin Caldwell (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing H.S.), who fired far post for her first goal of the season with 35:58 to play in the match.
Hope Steenwyke made five saves for the Golden Eagles in the setback.
