Lourdes needed just about an hour to pick up a straight sets victory over Great Lakes Christian on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves defeated the Crusaders 25-12, 25-12, 25-8 to close out play in the IU East Invitational held inside Lingle Court in Richmond, Ind.

The Gray Wolves held Great Lakes Christian (0-5) to just 13 kills in the match as the Crusaders swung at a -.086 clip. Lourdes hit .278 for the afternoon while putting down 36 kills.

"This was a great way to end our weekend," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We played better and were able to get some time for a lot of the team. Now we will focus our energy on our next match with the opening of Conference play."

Lourdes forced 10 attack errors from the Crusaders in the opening set to take the early lead in the match. In set two, the Gray Wolves raced out to a 10-1 lead and used another 6-0 spurt later in the stanza to build a 2-0 lead in the contest.Â
Katey Stakolich (Parma, Ohio/Normandy H.S.) served up 12 straight points in the final set as Lourdes completed the sweep.

Mackenzie Kemenah (Alvada, Ohio/New Riegel H.S.) and
Lydia Landoll (Monroeville, Ohio/Monroeville H.S.) each led Lourdes with five kills while Landoll also hit .625. Stakolich handed out 16 assists and served up three aces as did
Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield H.S.). Defensively,
Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) had 13 digs while
Finley Coghlan (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville H.S.) added 11 more.Â
Jolie Sobb (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) also finished in double figures with 10 digs.

Sophia Marcolongo led Great Lakes Christian with nine kills while Fabiola Gonzalez notched 14 digs.

Lourdes (3-3) returns home on Wednesday evening to open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play hosting Concordia (Mich.). First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
