Keira Boskovich's (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley H.S.) goal early in the second half proved to be the match-winner on Wednesday evening as Lourdes defeated Cleary 2-1 at Lake Trust Stadium in Howell, Mich.
Lourdes outshot the Cougars 11-4 in the opening half before taking the lead with just 1:12 remaining before halftime. A Gray Wolf centering attempt into the box was blocked by the Cleary defense but deflected into the back of the net for an own goal.
Cleary (2-15, 0-10 WHAC) evened the match just 8:20 into the second half as Ambre Canado scored off a corner kick from Payton Zeh.
The Gray Wolves wasted little time responding though, as
Taylir Lynam (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) sent a pass to Boskovich at the top of the box where the sophomore fired a shot off Cleary netminder Tara McGrath's hands into the net for her fourth goal of the season and second match-winner.
Lourdes finished the match outshooting Cleary 16-8 as
Emmy Rodger (Romeo, Mich./Romeo H.S.) made two stops in net for the Gray Wolves. McGrath finished with four saves for the Cougars.
Lourdes (5-9-2, 2-7-1) will close out its season on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves host Michigan-Dearborn for Senior Night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
