Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Harris Tallies 34 as No. 20 Lourdes Remains Unbeaten

Jackie Harris (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales H.S.) scored 28 of his 34 points in the first half as 20th-ranked Lourdes remained undefeated with a 94-74 victory on the road against the University of Northwestern Ohio inside of Racer Gymnasium in Lima, Ohio.

"We played a good first half we got complacent in the second half," head coach Dennis Hopson said afterwards.  "I think the score dictated that.  We stopped defending and started making mistakes.  We turned it over too much, but also had 24 assists."

Harris made six three-point field goals in the opening 20 minutes while scoring his 28 points as Lourdes jumped out to a 60-39 lead at intermission.  The Gray Wolves scored the game's first six points and led wire-to-wire.  A 25-9 run midway through the stanza broke the game open.

Lourdes shot 54.5% from the floor before break, making 10-of-19 (52.6%) triples, and forced 11 Racer turnovers on the way to building the big advantage.

Northwestern Ohio never got closer than 17 after halftime, and Lourdes pushed the lead to as many as 29 in the second half on the way to their school-record eighth straight victory to begin a season.

Joey Holifield (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) added 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor while Shaunn Monroe (Charleston, W. Va./Fairborn [Ohio] H.S.) tallied 15 more.  Jakiel Wells (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales H.S.) dished out eight assists on the day as the Gray Wolves finished the day shooting 52% from the floor.

Grant Pikkaart led Northwestern Ohio (2-7, 1-3 WHAC) with 13 points.

Lourdes (8-0, 4-0) closes out its three-game road trip next Saturday with a trip to Grand Rapids, Mich.  Tip-off against Aquinas is set for 3 p.m. inside the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
