Lourdes wasted little time completing a three-set sweep of Midway on Friday evening, defeating the Eagles 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 inside Marshall Gymnasium in Midway, Ky.

Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We served the ball well and were able to run an efficient offense. We will look to perform at an even higher level for our next match."

Eduardo Ayala (Curitiba, Brazil/Colegio Dom Bosco) led the Gray Wolves with 15 kills and hit .458 while
Jaber Badarne (Arrabe, Israel/Hof Hasharon) added 10 kills and swung at a .444 clip. Badarne also tied a school single match record with seven service aces.

George Tsogtbaatar (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling H.S.) handed out 33 assists while running an offense that hit .338 for the evening. Defensively,
Sawyer Schafer (Monroeville, Ohio/Monroeville H.S.) picked up nine digs.

A 6-0 run, including a pair of aces from Badarne gave Lourdes an 11-5 lead in the opening set and the Gray Wolves never looked back. The lead grew to as big as 22-12 before Midway made a small charge late.

In set two, Lourdes put down 17 kills while hitting .379 and never trailed. An early 5-1 advantage held until late when the Eagles pulled even at 19. The Gray Wolves would not allow the hosts to forge in front though, scoring four of the next five points to build a 2-0 lead in the match.

Midway (3-1) took an early 4-1 lead in the third before the Gray Wolves answered with a 9-3 run to take the lead for good. Another 5-0 spurt late, including two more aces from Badarne, allowed Lourdes to secure the win.

Victor Bazzo led Midway with 15 kills and hit .367 while Daniel Cogo handed out 20 assists and recorded a team-high six digs. The Eagles hit .194 on the night.

Lourdes (3-1) heads to Georgetown, Ky. on Saturday afternoon for a pair of matches against ranked opponents. The Gray Wolves will face eighth-ranked Menlo at 1 p.m. followed by the sixth-ranked host Tigers of Georgetown (Ky.) at 4 p.m. inside Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
