Lourdes began Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Sunday morning, dropping a 17-3 decision to third-ranked Lawrence Tech at Blue Devils Stadium in Southfield, Mich. for the Gray Wolves' first loss of the season.
 
Lawrence Tech (4-1, 1-0 WHAC) scored 11 times in the opening period and added six more goals in the second to build a 17-0 lead at halftime.
 
Amelia McCourt (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Bloomfield Hills H.S.) scored all three goals for the Gray Wolves, tallying one in the third quarter before adding two more in the fourth.
 
The Blue Devils outshot Lourdes 29-8 for the game, with Danielle Jackson (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton H.S.) making seven saves in goal for the Gray Wolves.  Joelle Rawski (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) picked up four ground balls and caused three turnovers to lead the defense.
 
Lourdes (2-1, 0-1) opens the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Siena Heights.  The opening draw is set for 5 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
