Lourdes opened the home portion of its 2023 schedule on a rainy Wednesday evening, dropping a 17-10 decision to Siena Heights at Wildcat Stadium.
Amelia McCourt (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Bloomfield Hills H.S.) scored five times while
Sarah Przyojski (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) added four more goals for the Gray Wolves.
The Saints jumped in front early, building a 10-3 lead midway through the second quarter when
Jordin Rawski (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) scored a man down to start the Lourdes offense. The Gray Wolves trailed 12-5 at halftime.
After Siena Heights (2-4, 1-0 WHAC) scored the first two goals of the third quarter, Lourdes went on a run, scoring four consecutive times, three by McCourt, to pull within five, 14-9. That would be as close as the Gray Wolves would get though.
Emily Pringle had six goals for the Saints while Jenna Allie added four more.
Siena Heights outshot Lourdes 38-19 for the night, but
Danielle Jackson (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton H.S.) made 12 saves in the cage for the Gray Wolves.
McCourt had nine draw controls in the game while Przyojski and
Joelle Rawski (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) had four ground balls each.
Lourdes (2-2, 0-2) returns to the road on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves head to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Aquinas. The opening draw is set for 2 p.m. at the Aquinas Athletic Field.
