Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Lourdes Holds off Michigan-Dearborn to Improve to 6-1

Leading by three at halftime, Lourdes saw the University of Michigan-Dearborn rally to take a fourth quarter lead, but the Gray Wolves scored the game's final two goals to defeat the Wolverines 9-8 on Wednesday evening at Wildcat Stadium.

Ben Reidy (Saskatoon, Sask./Bishop James Mahoney H.S.) scored the Gray Wolves' first two goals and added a third early in the second to put Lourdes on top 3-1.  Collin Brutlag (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) pushed the lead to three with his first collegiate goal, scoring from more than 50 yards away in his own defensive third.

The Wolverines pulled to within one, 4-3, with just under seven minutes to play before halftime but Nick Johnson (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) and Caden Louthan (Dripping Springs, Texas/Dripping Springs H.S.) both scored before intermission to give the Gray Wolves a three-goal lead at the break.

Michigan-Dearborn (4-5, 0-2 WHAC) scored the first three goals of the third before Reidy added his fourth tally of the night, only to see the Wolverines tie the game at seven with 10 seconds remaining in the quarter.  After the visitors went in front just 37 seconds into the fourth, Reidy tied the game less than three minutes later.  Louthan then scored what proved to be the game-winner with 9:19 to play and the defense kept the Wolverines of the scoreboard the rest of the way.

Jack Bichsel (Westerville, Ohio/North H.S.) made 17 saves in goal in the victory.  Noah Loth (Fort Worth, Texas/Aledo H.S.) picked up a team-high five ground balls while winning 11 faceoffs.

The Wolverines outshot the Gray Wolves overall 42-37 for the night with Lourdes holding a 33-21 ground ball advantage.

Lourdes (6-1, 1-1) remains home on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves entertain Madonna.  The opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
