For the first time in program history, 13^th-ranked Saint Xavier defeated 10^th-ranked Lourdes 25-19, 25-22, 25-18 inside the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill. on Tuesday evening.
 
Lourdes had been a perfect 20-0 against the Cougars all-time entering the match.
 
With Lourdes leading 12-11 in the opening set, the Cougars scored the next seven points on the way to taking the early lead in the match.  Saint Xavier hit .375 with 18 kills in set two, picking up the victory.  In the third, after 11 ties and five lead changes, the Cougars used an 8-1 run to take the lead for good on the way to completing the sweep.
 
Jaber Badarne (Arrabe, Israel/Hof Hasharon) led Lourdes with eight kills as the Gray Wolves managed just 19 total kills on the night.
 
Oskar Krzyzak led Saint Xavier (13-3) with 14 kills while Andres Velez had 10 digs.  The Cougars hit .329 for the night while limiting the Gray Wolves to just a .078 hitting night.
 
Lourdes (13-5) returns to action on Friday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to battle Aquinas.  First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center.
