Lourdes had its Senior Day spoiled by Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday evening as the Cardinals downed the Gray Wolves 6-1 and 4-0 at Gray Wolf Field.
 
The Cardinals scored a pair of runs in the opening inning and added four  more in the third to take a 6-0 lead in game one.  Lightning in the area then forced a delay of one-hour and 18 minutes in the middle of the fourth inning.
 
Out of the delay, Berlynn Keller (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Whiteford H.S.) set all nine Concordia hitters she faced down in order, finishing the game with 4.1 innings of relief work without allowing a run and yielding just two hits while striking out four.
 
Lourdes plated its lone run in the sixth as Mallori Bradley (Zanesville, Ohio/Maysville H.S.) led off the frame with a single, moving around to third on an error by the outfielder.  She scored one batter later on a ground out off the bat of Megan Richardson (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.).
 
The Gray Wolves managed just five hits off Paige Anderson, who went the distance in the circle for the Cardinals.
 
In game two, Concordia (29-13, 9-5 WHAC) scored three times in the opening inning, two of which were unearned following a two-out error.  The Cardinals added a single run in the fourth off Kirsten Smith (Marysville, Mich./Marysville H.S.), who pitched the final six innings in relief, allowing just the one run on three hits while fanning three.
 
Lourdes against tallied just five hits off Elyse Brittain, who tossed a complete game shutout in the circle.  Abby Cantrell (Gibsonburg, Ohio/Gibsonburg H.S.) had two hits for the Gray Wolves in game two.
 
Lourdes (9-23, 4-12) has postponed its scheduled doubleheader against Madonna for Sunday afternoon due to forecasted rain, with a make-up date to be announced.  The Gray Wolves will now return to action next Saturday (April 22), traveling to Fort Wayne, Ind. to face Indiana Tech.  First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. at Warrior Park.
