Facing an offense that fired 63 shot attempts on Saturday afternoon, Lourdes dropped a 20-7 decision to fifth-ranked Indiana Tech at Warrior Athletic Field in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Gray Wolves took an early lead behind back-to-back goals from
Garrett Boersma (Norco, Calif./Norco H.S.) and
Nick Johnson (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) less than five minutes into the game.
Indiana Tech (9-3, 3-1 WHAC) would respond with the game's next five goals to take the lead for good before
Jack Durham (Zeeland, Mich./East H.S.) stopped the run.
Tomasz Simeunovic (Whitby, Ont./The Hill Academy) would also score before halftime for Lourdes but the Warriors would take a 10-4 lead into the break.
The hosts scored nine of the 10 three quarter goals, with just a tally by Boersma interrupting the run before Johnson and
Brock Meomartino (Cumberland, R.I./Cumberland H.S.) added a pair of fourth quarter tallies for the Gray Wolves.
Indiana Tech finished with a 63-13 shot advantage for the game with
Jack Bichsel (Westerville, Ohio/North H.S.) turning away 17 attempts in the cage for the Gray Wolves.
Durham had a team-high seven ground balls while
Hayden Barber (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) added five more for the Gray Wolves.
Lourdes (6-3, 1-3) returns home on Wednesday afternoon to host fourth-ranked Concordia (Mich.). The opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
