Lourdes Earns First Road Win Friday at Rochester

Lourdes picked up its first road victory of the 2023 season on Friday evening as the Gray Wolves defeated Rochester (Mich.) 25-17, 25-11, 21-25, 25-21 inside of Garth Pleasant Arena in Rochester Hills, Mich.
 
"We put together a better performance as far as offensive efficiency tonight," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "We are still not where we need to be, but this was a much better effort."
 
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) put down a team-high 16 kills while hitting .317 and picked up 14 digs defensively while Lindsey Pumford (St. Charles, Mich./St. Charles H.S.) added 10 kills without an error, swinging at a .625 clip.  Miyana Dishroon (Woodhaven, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) handed out 41 assists while directing the offense.
 
Defensively, Arleena Willer (Perrysburg, Ohio/Toledo Christian H.S.) picked up 27 digs while Mia Lopez (San Diego, Calif./Mount Carmel H.S.) added 23 more.  Dishroon added 11 digs as part of her double-double while Ella Lewis (Scotts, Mich./Portage Northern H.S.) picked up 14 more.
 
Lourdes scored seven of the first eight points in the match to take the early lead and never looked back in the opening set.  The Gray Wolves then hit .464, putting down 13 kills without an error in the second, taking a 15-3 lead on the way to an 2-0 advantage in the match.
 
Rochester extended the match with a win in the third, closing on a 9-3 run.  An 11-4 run by the Gray Wolves midway thorugh the fourth allowed Lourdes to take control and close out the match.
 
Olivia Pannecouk led Rochester (3-14, 0-6 WHAC) with 10 kills while Ashley Horne had 24 digs.
 
Lourdes (2-9, 2-4) closes out its road trip on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Livonia, Mich. to battle Madonna.  The first serve is set for 2 p.m. inside Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena.
