Lourdes saw its three-match unbeaten streak come to an end on Wednesday afternoon, falling on the road 4-2 against the University of Northwestern Ohio at Racer Stadium in Lima, Ohio.
The Racers took the lead just over 15 minutes into the match as Anne Sjolte sent a long cross to the far post where Vivian Purmonen converted to put the hosts in front.
The Gray Wolves answered 15 minutes later as
Taylir Lynam (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) found the back of the net on a free kick from just outside the box for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Northwestern Ohio (4-4-1, 1-1 WHAC) took the lead for good with 4:49 to play before halftime as Ashley Wilson converted a penalty kick following a foul in the box to put the Racers in front 2-1 at intermission.
The hosts added to their lead with a pair of goals less than three minutes apart early in the second half. Alejandra Gomez Nogueras scored first before Wilson tallied her second goal of the match to increase the Racers lead to three.
Lourdes added a late goal as
Simona Iacobacci (Washington, Mich./Romeo H.S.) scored her first collegiate tally with 11:09 to play in the match as
Keira Boskovich (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley H.S.) handed out her fourth assist of the year.
The Racers finished the match with a 23-4 shot advantage as
Emmy Rodger (Romeo, Mich./Romeo H.S.) made two saves in goal for the Gray Wolves. Mireia Queralt had one stop in net for Northwestern Ohio.
Lourdes (4-3-1, 1-1) returns home on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves host Lawrence Tech. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
