Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lourdes Remains Perfect on the Road with Win at Rochester

Lourdes remained undefeated away from home on Saturday afternoon as the 14th-ranked Gray Wolves downed Rochester (Mich.) 82-59 inside Garth Pleasant Arena in Rochester Hills, Mich.

"We defended pretty well and they only shot 18% from three which is something they like to do," head coach Dennis Hopson said afterwards.  "We also did a good job of rebounding, holding a 49-26 advantage."

Shaunn Monroe (Charleston, W. Va./Fairborn [Ohio] H.S.) poured in a career-high 30 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line while Stephen Coleman Jr. (Toledo, Ohio/Hillcrest Prep H.S.) added a double-double with 12 point and 11 rebounds.  Nic Borojevich (Swanton, Ohio/Swanton H.S.) and Joey Holifield (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) gave Lourdes four double figure scorers with 11 and 10 points respectively.

"Shaunn and Steve both played great games," Hopson added.

Lourdes started fast, building a quick 15-7 lead just over six minutes into the contest.  The Gray Wolves led by as many as nine in the first half before the Warriors fought back to within three, 29-26.  Lourdes scored the next 10 points before taking an 11-point advantage into the locker room.

The lead swelled to 52-31 just over five minutes into the second half and the Gray Wolves never looked back.  Rochester would not get any closer than 18 over the final 15 minutes while Lourdes led by as many as 29 points with just under 10 minutes to play.

The Gray Wolves shot 45.3% from the floor while limiting Rochester to 37.5% from the field and Lourdes outscored the Warriors 38-28 in the paint.

Brett White and Anthony Cukaj led Rochester (11-5, 6-4 WHAC) with 11 points each.

Lourdes (13-1, 9-1) returns home on Wednesday evening to face Indiana Tech.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
