Lourdes took to the road for the first time in January on Saturday afternoon, falling 88-78 to Rochester (Mich.) inside of Garth Pleasant Arena in Rochester Hills, Mich.
Emma Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) led Lourdes with 17 points while her sister
Shae Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) added 12 more.
Halle Barnett (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) also finished in double figures for the Gray Wolves with 10 points.
The Gray Wolves took an early 9-3 lead just over two minutes into the contest and maintained an advantage most of the opening period until a 5-0 run by Rochester put the hosts in front 16-13. Lourdes closed to within one, 19-18, after the first 10 minutes but that would be as close as the Gray Wolves would get the rest of the way.
Rochester opened the second pushing the lead to six right away and would lead by as many as nine in the quarter before taking a 47-39 lead into the locker room. The Warriors scored the first seven points of the second half to build a 15-point edge heading to the final stanza.
Lourdes would battle back to close within five on a Barnett basket with 3:45 to play, closing a 9-0 Gray Wolf run, but Rochester answered with a three-pointer on the way to closing out the game.
Melanie Moore led Rochester (8-8, 5-5 WHAC) with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Celeste Mershimer added 15 points as five Warriors finished the day in double figures.
Lourdes (4-10, 3-7) returns home to the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center on Wednesday evening to close out the first half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play hosting Indiana Tech. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
