Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

No. 14 Gray Wolves Falls to No. 5 The Master’s in Chicago

Lourdes wrapped up play at the Chicago Tournament on Saturday morning, dropping a 25-16, 25-19, 25-20 match to fifth-ranked The Master's inside of the Lindner Fitness Center in Elgin, Ill.

"We did not put our best effort on the floor and that is what was needed to compete with a program playing at a high level," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "We will get to work to make some improvements and prepare for our next match."

The Mustangs hit .446 on the day with just 10 attack errors for the match while holding Lourdes to a .101 clip.

A 15-3 run early in the match allowed The Master's to open up a quick 17-5 lead.  Lourdes was able to get back within nine, but no closer in set one.  The second set saw The Master's hit .478 as the Mustangs led from start to finish.  In the third, the Mustangs swung at a .591 clip with 15 kills on just 22 swings and used a 12-4 run to put the match out of reach.

Vinicius Lopes (Brusque, Brazil/Colegio Osvaldo Carvalho) led Lourdes with seven kills and hit .312 while Brayden Moyars (McCordsville, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) picked up six of the team's 13 digs in the match.

Diego Perez led The Master's (3-0) with eight kills.

Lourdes (0-3) will return to action on Feb. 8 hosting the Gray Wolf Invitational.  The Gray Wolves battle Menlo in their home opener beginning at 7 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
